Experience /is/ split. However, depending on the Challenge Rating (The # of DoTs) - the base experience is higher, and the bonus per person is modified.

I will not use the real numbers here, but a group of two people fighting Challenge Rating 3 NPCs - you will gain X% more per person, then that experience is divided out.

Tagad, Agad, and Gad kill a 3 dot NPC. Lets pretend the base exp was 100 and the group bonus is 10% per person. The total experience before division would be 130. After division each party member would gain 43 experience.
